Employee volunteers and skilled electricians will complete critical electrical upgrades and other improvements to support food access and community services in Baltimore.

WHAT:

Local nonprofit Rebuilding Together Baltimore and IDEAL Electrical are teaming up to improve the U Empower Maryland (UEMD) Resource Hub, home to The Food Project, helping strengthen a Southwest Baltimore community resource that connects individuals and families with food, resources, and other essential services. 

Around 20 employee volunteers and skilled electricians from IDEAL Electrical will work alongside Rebuilding Together Baltimore to improve the safety, functionality, and long-term resilience of the UEMD Resource Hub. Planned improvements include electrical upgrades, enhanced lighting, new phone charging stations, laundry room improvements, expanded power access in key program areas, and other facility enhancements that will better support the organization’s day-to-day operations. Volunteers will also replace ceiling tiles, assemble bike racks, and refresh the space with new paint and branded graphics. 

These improvements will be provided at no cost to the UEMD Resource HUB, and will create a safer, more functional space for staff, volunteers, and the individuals and families who rely on The Food Project and Resource’s Hub’s services. The project also demonstrates how skilled trades professional can use their expertise to strengthen the communities they serve.
